DeNEVER Gunna Forget Colorado

For the last week our trip has consisted of mostly driving. See that this is a road trip, I guess that makes sense but for one day we were blessed to take a brake and trade in the pavement for a dirt road. Matt's old roommate Justin lives in Denver Colorado and his uncle has a house about 30 minutes up in the mountains where he took for the afternoon.
It was absolutely beautiful up there, surrounded by dark green trees and glassy lakes. We couldn't believe we were getting to relax in such a place. We all spent time racing around the property on ATV's and paddling through the lake (his family owns!) in a pedal boat.
As if this wasn't enough excitement for one day we met up with James Hagan, his girlfriend Malia, and Justin's girlfriend Alicia for dinner in downtown Denver. After taking a rather crowded 6 person bike-taxi ride through the city we all went to Whole Foods for groceries (to survive on the road) and dessert. I think all of us would agree that our mouths and stomachs hurt from a day full of so much laughter.
To top it all off, Justin and Alicia took Matt and I to see the famous Red Rock Amphitheater even though it was pouring rain and a Celtic concert had just let out.
It had to be one of the most full and fun days of my life. I'm excited for more to come.

Road Trip Update: DAY 3 (Matt)

We are ALIVE! is amazing, i would have thought that we would have been super tired of this by now, but everything is different or at least it changes every few hours or so..(mountains, desert, rocks, cities, small towns.) its been really cool though, i love being out here, Currently we are in SLC and spending some time reading and writing and just relaxing. we gotta make it to Denver tonight, but we have time, Justin (my college roomate) gets off work at like 11 or something so we will make it into town later than sooner, but we have met some nice people, and joined up with good friends along the way so far and are looking forward to what is to come. Its only day three... we got a lot of time and road ahead of us!

HI-ways and BYE-ways

In November of 2008 Matt called me up one night and asked me if I would ever want to take a long trip with him in the future. By the end of the conversation we had planned this excursion: a six week road trip around the U.S. with no specific destinations in mind, just drive and stop and go as we please.
After months of freaking out and realizing we had to have some sort of a plan so we would not die, we are leaving June 28th on a sunday morning to spend the next six weeks driving from state to state until sometime in August. With a small budget, a blue Honda Civic, and multiple experiences traveling together, Matt and I are ready to set out on what we think will be a trip full of "the stories we'll tell when we're old."
Please enjoy keeping up with our travels as we update it with pictures, videos, and new fun stories from all that God has us encounter through our summer.
